Hey {{first_name|there}},

Elina here.

Things are literally changing every day in the world of AI.

This week, LinkedIn said "buh-bye" to AI slop, an AI manager fired a human employee, and someone somehow measured the land grab happening in AI search.

Let's jump in:

Biggest news:

LinkedIn added a button that lets you report posts that "seems like AI slop". You can click the 3 dots on any post and flagging trains their systems to suppress low-quality AI content across the feed.

Reason behind this is that an AI detector found that 41% of long-form LinkedIn posts appear to be completely AI-generated. LinkedIn also says it's blocking hundreds of thousands of automated comments every day, and it's removing its own "enhance your post" AI writing feature, replacing it with a proofreader that "does not change your voice."

Why you should care:
Platforms are starting to push lazy AI content and reward human writing. You can still use AI to write content, just make sure you either
1) do lots of proof-reading before sending it
2) actually spend time creating agents that can write content in your voice

I like to use Wispr Flow to voice everything and have AI help structure it in a way that makes sense to others.

Craziest thing I saw:

A startup called Andon Labs has been running an experiment where Claude runs a store in San Francisco. It has actual inventory, customers, and real human employees with employment contracts.

The employee showed up late to 17 of their 23 shifts, and after months of being a very lenient boss, Claude decided it wasn't working out. (With some nudging from a human supervisor, to be fair.) TIME says it's the first known case of an AI manager firing a human worker.

Now is having AI be the CEO working? Well, the store started with $100K in March and 5 months later is down to about $60K.

Why you should care:
Everyone (including me) keeps telling you to put AI to work in your business. It truly has made so many of my workflows 10x faster and easier.

The caveat is it works best with human oversight, or having someone who actually understands how to implement AI inside your business.

The Human-AI business model is elite.

New tool everyone's talking about:

Meta released its first coding agent this week, called Muse Code. You give it a task and it plans the changes, writes the code, and checks its own work. In one demo, it ran for 24 hours straight on a single problem.

The interesting thing here is the pricing model. While the standard tier costs $1.25 per million input tokens, the "contributor" tier costs $0.10. This is 10x cheaper.

But you have to let Meta train on your data.

Why you should care:
AI gets better with data, and these companies need data. So as we progress in this crazy technological revolution, I suspect we will be seeing steep discounts when you allow these tools to train on your data.

Are you in or out?

Data I can't stop thinking about:

New research analyzed 600,000+ ChatGPT citations across 1,094 business categories. It found that 89% of AI search demand sits in categories where there is no clear brand as the winner.

And once a business actually takes the top spot in AI search, it holds it in 90% of month-to-month comparisons.

Why you should care:
AI search is a land grab right now. In almost every category, the "default answer" seat is still empty. But once someone actually starts implementing strategies to rank in AI search, the data says it's quite hard for someone else to take their spot.

If you believe AI is here to stay, what are you doing to secure your spot in AI search? Because someone in your category will, whether it's you or your competitor.

Quote I'm pondering:

"Not only do I think it'll create a trillionaire, but it could be just one dude in the basement. That's how crazy it could be."

P.S. If you believe AI is here to stay, you need to have a plan to get recommended in AI search and become the “default answer”. If you don't, your competitor will.
